Virginia Foundation for the Humanities
We’ve scheduled edUi 2011 right up against one of the greatest folk festivals on the east coast. Come for edUi and stay for the Richmond Folk Festival.
The Festival is absolutely free and the conference hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the Festival grounds that saw 190,000 attendees last year.
The list of performers at the Festival keeps growing.
The full line up including dozens of performers won’t be announced until Sept. but you can get a taste of what’s to come right now including:
- Tsimshian dance
- Doo-wop
- Chicago blues
- Reggae
- Cajun
- Contemporary Bluegrass & Country
- Malian ngoni (lute)
The Virginia Foundation for the Humanities (who bring you edUi) also have a hand in the Richmond Folk Festival. There will be a special Virginia Folklife stage and material culture area at the Festival hosted by VFH’s Virginia Folklife Program.
