We’re entertaining the idea of some sort of pre-conference outing on Wednesday October 12th. What would you be interested in doing?
What times would or wouldn’t work for you (hotel check in is around 3:00)? Would you be willing to pay a little extra or should we shoot for something free?
Some ideas include a visit to a local museum like the Richmond History Center or Museum of the Confederacy. We could take a walking tour of Capital Square, visit historic Shockoe Slip or just a casual meetup at a local bar. You tell us what you’d be interested in.
Remember, it’ll be mid October so weather and daylight are factors.

Last year we had a ‘ghost walk’ tour of downtown Charlottesville. I’m not big on repetition, but there are some ghost walk tours in Shockoe Slip that might be fun. Last year we had a ‘ghost walk’ tour of downtown Charlottesville.

I’m leaning towards something pretty casual as well. There’s a nice sports bar kind of place within walking distance of the hotel or we could go down into the area known as “Shockoe Bottom”. It’s a little more scenic, has older buildings with more character, etc.
